Analysis through technology Flashcards
(11 cards)
what’s limb kinematics?
the study of movement in relation to time and space
how does limb kinematics work?
infrared cameras link up to a computer to provide movement and can be played and slowed down to provide vital feedback on limb positioning
what are the advantages of limb kinematics?
helps to improve technique, therefore performance
helps to prevent injury
what are the disadvantages of limb kinematics?
expensive equipment
experience needed
poor inter-reliability of body mark placement
what are force plates?
ground reaction forcesare measured using these
what do athletes do on force plates?
run, balance and jump on force plates to assess their power output
what data can be recorded with force plates?
data on running, jumping and balancing can be recorded. Most common use is for gait analysis, balance and regahilitation
what are advantages of force plates?
helps analyse gait which is important for efficiency of movement
helps to measure force produced
it can help improve balance
what are disadvantages of force plates?
specialist equipment is needed
extremely expensive
specialist knowledge is required
what are wind tunnes?
steel frame buildings which contain wide fans, where artificial wind is produced
what is used to create the drag reduction system?
technology
