(AOM 1.3.0) CDFA, Stabilized Approach Criteria, Latitude Approach Guidance, Mode Annunciations (RKA) Flashcards
(50 cards)
CDFA Criteria (AOM 2.21.8)
Straight-in minimums must be published.
Descent Angle (Glideslope, Glidepath Angle, or Vertical Descent Angle (VDA)) must be published on the approach chart.
Use only local altimeter.
Apply cold weather altimeter corrections as prescribed in the FOM.
How do you calculate a DDA (AOM 2.21.8.1)
Add 50 ft to the minimums of the Non-Precision Approach Without Vertical Guidance, including the following minima references: MDA, DA, CDFA DA/MDA
Set BARO minimums to DDA.
CDFA Approach AAD (AOM 2.21.8.1)
Set AAD prior to FAF according to Approach Guidance and Mode Annunciations for Approach to DA or DDA (including CDFA)
CDFA Descent LNAV only minimums (AOM 2.21.8.1)
Ensure GP captures and follows the vertical path angle
Set MAA in AAD
CDFA Descent all other straight in approaches (AOM 2.21.8.1)
Use VS
Set VS to the target ed vertical speed derived from the approach chart descent/timing conversion table
Set MAA in AAD
CDFA Step Down Altitude Warning (AOM 2.21.8.1)
All step-down altitude restrictions must be met. Monitor vertical profile comparing Baro-altitude against distance by using FMS distance of DME
CDFA at DDA Minimums (AOM 2.21.8.1)
Approach lights in sight - Continue to 100 ft above TDZE
Runway in sight - Continue to normal landing
Runway or approach lights not in sight - Do not level off. Initiate missed approach and maintain track to MAP before making any turns
CDFA Below DDA warning (AOM 2.21.8.1)
Below the DDA, constant descent flight path, including synthetic glidepath derived by VNAV, does not assure obstacle clearance. Terrain and obstacles must be avoided visually
Stabilized Approach Definition (AOM 2.21.7)
Achieving and maintaining:
Stable approach speed
Descent Rate
Flight Path
Approved Stabilized Approach Configuration (AOM 2.21.7)
Adhere to:
Spool-up engines at or above applicable AFM limitations
Complete all briefings and checklists (except for final flap configuration if required per actions and callouts table)
Stabilized Approach Requirements for published glidepath angle greater than 3.5 degrees (AOM 2.21.7)
Fully configure for landing and reduce speed to VREF prior to glidepath interception
Stabilized Approach Height IMC (AOM 2.21.7)
1000ft above TDZE, or if not available or circling approach use AFE
Stabilized Approach Height VMC (AOM 2.21.7)
500 ft above TDZE or if not available or circling approach use AFE
