Q

dorsal column - medial lemniscus pathway

A

carries sensory information from periphery into the spinal cord through dorsal root up through the spinal cord and to the rest of the CNS
-tactile information

Q

what is the pathway for the DCML pathway

A

-fibers enter at dorsal root and into the dorsal white matter
-travels through fasciculus graciliis or cuneatus into the spinal cord and up the the medulla (first synapse)
-crosses midline after synapse and travels within ML
-fibers ascend through rest of the brainstem and midbrain up to the thalamus (second synapse)
-spreads throughout corona radiate into the cortex and going out to S1
