Q

Why is bile necessary?

A

It emulsifies fats so that the lipase have a much larger surface area to work on increasing the rate of reaction
.it also contains hydrocarbonate (it’s alkaline) so it neutralises the stomach acid/ substances coming from the stomach and produces the optimum pH for the enzymes in the small intestine
.means food is digested more efficiently
