Austrians feared uprising and upsetting the liberal French
What was the difference between the upper and lower house of parliament in Piedmont?
Upper house was appointed by King and lower house was elected
What was the issue with the electorate of the lower house of piedmonts parliament?
Had to be landowners and only was applicable to 2% of the population, many where illiterate
Why did many liberals flee to Piedmont in the 1850s?
Free press, statuto, legal equality
Why did Mazzini loose support in the 1850s?
Too radical, still pushing a republic, had fled to London
Why did radicalism loose popularity?
Failed attempts caused many to lose faith, fear of upsetting foreigners, constitutional monarchy seemed more viable
What is meant by excommunicating?
Means anyone who challenges his power and revolutionaries are nor allowed to become members of the Catholic Church
