Increases the release of sodium and potassium which results in hypokalemia

Avoid in sulfa allergies
Photosensitivity
Give in the morning to prevent nocturia
Avoid with lithium

Digoxin Effects
Slows down heart
Increases BP and tissue perfursion
Digoxin Clinical Priorities
Take apical pulse one minute and hold if less then 60 adults, 100 children
Therapeutic level is 1-2
Toxic if over 2 S/S - Sees yellow spots, N/V, Ab pain
Monitor Potassium - low increase toxic risk
Give activated charcoal or digoxin immune fab if toxic
Nitroglycerin Action
Vasodilator given to reduce preload and afterload of the heart
Nitro Effects
lowers BP increases oxygenation
Nitro Contraindications
Do not give with sildenafil - deadly hypotension
MAX 3 tablets every 5 minutes for 15 minutes Sub Lingual
Don’t eat or drink when taking it SL
If in a patch, never over a pacemaker and remove before MRI
Nitro IV - Infusion pump always
