The new deal

A

The president of United States, Franklin Roosevelt’s response to the Great Depression. It was an experimental combination of reforms seeking to restart economic growth and prevent similar problems in the future. Government action and spending programs were used to counter the depression. Spending was put on new infrastructure labor unions economic safety nets to sustain the poor unemployed and elderly and subsidies for farmers. In the end the new deal worked very well and the Great Depression

Woodrow Wilson/14 points

A

The American presidents in the year 1919. His famous 14 points highlighted his idea for a league of Nations, a new international peacekeeping organization and his urging that we avoid another situation like World War I with the highlights of this document. He’s idealistic vision largely failed as Germany was treated more harshly than he had wished and the US Senate refused to join the league.

World War II and Asia

A

The rise of Chinese nationalism was a threat to the Japanese sphere of influence in Manchuria. Acting independently of civilian authorities in Tokyo, Japanese military unit seized control of Manchuria in 1931 and established a puppet state called Manchukuo. This action infuriated the allies and so Japan decided to side with Germany and Italy instead. In 1940 Japan extended its military operations to French British Dutch and American colonies of Indochina, Malay, Burma and Indonesia in an effort to secure more resources. The Japanese saw themselves as liberators and modernizers creating in Asia for Asians infringing these areas of European Dom. European economic community

A

Six countries established a special market where reduced tariffs and developed common trade policies could be established between countries. Over the next few years it’s membership came to include most of Europe. Later it was renamed the European Union and no 17 members use the euro as their common currency. All of this sustained Europe’s remarkable economic recovery and expressed a larger European identity

World War I

A

World War I involved more countries and killed more people than any other war that had ever been fucked before. By 1914 five strongest countries in Europe and split into two rival groups. Britain France and Russia where the allies and Germany and Austria hungry where the Central Powers. When franzs Ferdinand the Archduke of Austria-Hungary was assassinated in Bosnia a war between Austria-Hungary and Serbia was the result. Because of treaty agreements Russia backed Serbia and Germany back Austria-Hungary. Modern technology allowed for trench warfare which dragged on for four tough years. Millions of men died in these terrible battles which sometimes lots of months. As time went on other countries and got involved in the war, Like the USA Bulgaria and Turkey. In 1918 the Russians were exhausted by the war and they made peace with Germany. German soldiers made a series of final attacks on the Western front but they were forced back. Germany surrendered and on November 11, 1918 war finally came to an end

Treaty of versailles

A

Is it was a treaty which formally ended World War I. Bitstrips Germany of its colonial empire and 15% of its European territory. It required Germany to pay heavy reparations to the winners, and since severely restricted Germany’s military.

The Great Depression

A

An outbreak that hit all across the capitalist world where the stock market crashed, unemployment sword, and food became too expensive to buy. Wartime demand had greatly stimulated agricultural and industrial capacity. By the end of the 1920s farms and factories were producing more goods and they could sell and a highly unequal distribution of income meant that many people could not afford to buy these products that American factories were turning out.

Nazi Germany

A

An extremely nationalistic and violent political party. In 1933 the Nazis one a democratic election and the Weimar Republic winning 37% of the vote. In 1933 Hitler was legally installed as the chancellor of Germany and quickly he consolidated Nazi control of Germany creating the third Reich. The Nazis revitalized the German economy. But singled out the Jews that is being detriments to the German society. Hitler implemented policies restricting Jews from universities or organizations employment and marriage or sexual relations between Jews and Germans. The Nazi party would eventually go to war for invading Poland and it’s desire to acquire more land and thus our World War II. During World War II the Nazis would fight against Britain the United States France and Russia while killing upwards of 6 million Jewish civilians in the Holocaust.

World War II in Europe

A

Germany was extremely dissatisfied with their role after World War I. The harsh terms of the Treaty of Versailles made many Germans resent their position in the international arena. Taking advantage of these resentments the Nazis pledge to rectify the Treaty of her son is perceived injustices. As Hitler pursued territorial expansion the allies became more and more willing to participate in war against Germany. The German invasion of Poland was the final straw, and Britain and France declared war on Germany. The Germans defeated the French into weeks and then launched the destructive air war against Britain 1941 the Russians entered the war. Germans used blitzkrieg to take over much of Europe. In 1942 the tides turned when the Soviet Union absorbed the German onslaught and began a counterattack. Holocaust

A

The most hunting outcome of the war. The Nazis had a dream of ridding Germany of its Jewish population. Jews were racially discriminated, and sent to concentration camps in Germany, Poland, and other areas of year. Altogether some 6 million Jews were murdered in gas chambers and other ways. Millions more Russians, polls, slavs, gypsies and homosexuals communists handicapped people were all killed as part of Germany’s racial purification.

The Marshall plan

A

An effort to rebuild and reshape shuttered European economies. The usa effort that funneled some $12 billion to Europe. It was motivated by genuine humanitarian concern, the desire to prevent a new depression by creating overseas customers for American industrial goods, and an interest in undermining the growing appeal of European Communist parties. This economic recovery plan was successful beyond anyone’s expectations. Western Europe and economies grew rapidly, generating a widespread prosperity and in proving living standards. At the same time Western Europe became both a major customer for American goods in a major competitor and global markets. The Marshall plan forced Europeans countries to work with one another after decades of conflict.
