  • Personal discovery - Bigger more emotionally mature thoughts.
    “I more than once, when sent for to read to him, found him sitting in his library alone”
  • links to previous chapters when Jane would sit alone reading books.
  • Dramatic irony because the reader is getting the impression that they are becoming more than friends.

  • Victorian women would usually not have thought in this way and would have been proper and prim.
  • These are quite forward thoughts of a young woman of ambiguous class.
  • They have very open and honest conversations which was not normal for an employee and employer relationship.
