Chapter 4: Review Flashcards
Overall Review (6 cards)
4B - Operant Conditioning
What is the Three Phase Model of Operant Conditioning?
Operant Conditioning: Lrning thru asocitn of behvr & the cnsqnce it rcs
Step 1 - Antecedent: A stimulus that causes a voluntary behaviour to occur.
Step 2 - Behaviour: A voluntary action in response to an antecedent
Step 3 - Consequence: An event following that action that makes it either more or less likely to occur again.
4C - Observational Learning
What are all stages of Observational Learning?
Hint: (AMRRM)
- Attention: Focus actively on the model
- Mental Retention: Mental representation
- Reproduction: Having mental and physical capabilities to reproduce behaviour
- Motivation: Wanting to replicate behaviour
Reinforcement & Punishment
Reinforcement
A type of consequence that makes a behaviour more likely to occur again.
Positive Reinforcement compared to Negative Reinforcement
Positive Reinforcement: When a stimulus is added in order to encourage a behaviour to occur again.
Negative Reinforcement: When a stiumulus is removed in order to encourage a behaviour to occur again.
Punishment
Behaviourist approaches to learning are theories that propose learning occurs by interacting with what environment?
Behaviourist approaches to learning propose learning occurs by interacting with the external environment
