affective domain
The part of learning that is associated with feelings and emotions
bullying
behavior like hitting, threatening, teasing, taunting, rumors, isolation, stealing. Personal interaction or cyberbullying
classroom climate
feelings that the members of a classroom share about the social, emotional, and academic aspects of their environment. Positive: Children feel safe and successful.
Community of learners
learning environments where eveyone in the group is learning together and from one another in a supportive manner. All children, and teacher, learn together.
Conventional ethics
Kohlberg’s stage of moral reasoning (10-20) where a person’s moral decisions re based on concern for other people and the laws of society.
convergent questions
questions that necessitate right/factual answers
cooperative learning models
small group instruction that is structured for interdependence and positive contributions from team members. Social skills as part of curriculum
divergent questions
necessitate or encourage creative thinking, multiple answers
explicitly communicate
convey a message in clear, unambiguous manner, usually in words, so that both the sender and reciver are aware of the content.
implicitly communicate
conveying a message in a hidden manner, conveyed through body language or behavior
industry vs inferiority stage
Erickson. 6-12 may or may not develop appreciation of mastery or comptenece through a sense of accomplishment
modeling
learning that is a result of observing the behaviors and actions of others

Preconventional ethics

self-efficacy
a person’s perceptions about whether they can successfully accomplish a task. High: belief that there is a high probability for success. Low- low probability for success.
Self-fulfilling prophesy
expectation that leads to actions that make it a reality.
social cognitive theory
Bandura. learn from modeling or observing others
Social interaction
participating with others. Vygotsky. benefits: achievement, self-esteem, relationships.
ZPD
Vygotsky. expand their own thinkng and skills with the help of a more able adult or peer.
