Q

What does the cerebellum control? (4)

A
  • posture
  • balance
  • fine coordination of voluntary muscle movements
To do this cerebellum receives sensory info from inner ear (posture + balance) and from stretch receptors in skeletal muscle.

Q

What is the medulla Oblongata and what does it control (4)

A
  • continuation of spinal cord
    Contains:
  • cardiac centre: regulates rate and force of heartbeat
  • respiratory centre: rate and depth of breathing
  • vasomotor centre: diameter of blood vessels

Q

What does the spinal cord do

A
  • carry sensory impulses up to the brain and motor impulses down from brain. Does this by ascending and descending tracts of spinal cord.
  • integrate certain reflexes
