Autotroph
An organism that makes its own food, usually through photosynthesis (e.g., plants).
Heterotroph
An organism that cannot make its own food and must consume other organisms for energy (e.g., animals).
Photon
A particle of light or electromagnetic radiation.
Wavelength
The distance between two peaks of a wave, often used to measure light or sound.
Visible light

The process of using light energy to break down molecules.
Stomata
Tiny openings on the surface of plant leaves that allow gas exchange.
