Three or more people who interact over time, follow shared rules to reach a common goal. The team is one type of group

A
Special kind of group by different resources of member. All teams are groups, but not all groups are teams.

Limitations of Groups
A
- Time: Groups take far more time to make decisions, implement ideas
- Conformity Pressures: Individual ideas, desires can be suppressed by majorities or dominant members (group think)
- Reduced Individual Responsibilty: Easier for each member to contribute less to the group (social loafing)

- Greater Thoroughness: Synergy: Collaborate, enhance the effort, talen, strength of individual member

c. Social climbing: the attempt to improve one’s own status by winning approval of leader(s)

- Reward : give people they value like promotion
- Coercive : Punish other, firing
- Legitimate: Depend on the role of other like manager
- Expert: base on knowedge
- Referent : base on personality

- Group norms: informal rules that guide how member of a group or culture think, feel, act, and interact. Norm define what is normal or appropriate

- Climate: create and maintain supportive climate that encourage people to contribute
