Perception
is the active process of creating meaning by selecting, organizing, and interpreting people, objects, events, situations, and activities
Selection
We choose to attend that stand out because its more lager, more intensive, more unusual.
Organization
Once we have selected what to notice, we must make sense of it
Organization: Prototype (nguyên mẫu)
refer to the clearest or most representative example of some category. Ex: If John is the best friend you had ever had, then john is prototype of good friend.
Organization: Personal Construct
is a mental yardstick that we use to measure a person or situation along.
Ex: intelligent - unintelligent, kind -unkind
Organization: Stereotype (kiểu mẫu)
Base on category in which we place someone or something and how that person will do in particular situation.
Ex: Fat person are likely to eat more than thin person
Organization: Script
A script consists of sequences of activities that are expected of us and others in particular situation. Base on our experiences and observations of interactions in various contexts
Attribution
an explanation for why something happened or why something is a certain way.
Attribution: Locus
attributes a person’s action to an internal or external factor
Ex: He has no patience with people who are late (in)
The traffic jam frustrated him (external factor)
Attribution: Stability (relate to time)
which explan actions as the result of stable or unstable factor
Ex: She is type A person (stable)
She has headache right now (unstable)
Attribution: Activating event or Specificity
relate to all situation, event, place
explain behaviour in term of whether the behaviour has global implication or specific implication
Ex: Hes an introvert (global)
He gets quite whenever he needs to drink (specific)
