o As many as 2/3 of people in treatment for drug abuse reported abuse or neglect as a child
o Male children with 6 or more childhood adverse experiences were >4,000% more likely to use IV drugs later in life
o 14% of men in prison and 36% of women in prison in USA were abused as children
o Abused/neglected children are 9 times more likely to become involved in criminal activity.
