What is circulation known as and what does it include
A
Also called the cardiovascular system, cardio meaning heart and vascular meaning blood vessels and blood.
Transports- gasses, nutrients and waste
Regulates- internal temperature
Protects- against microbes and toxic substances

A
Lymph vessels and nodes
- drains excess fluid that seeps out of the capillaries into the body tissues and returns it to the blood

Cardiac output
A
- the amount of blood that flows from each side of the heart per minute, two factors affect this, the stroke volume and heart rate

Stroke volume
A
Quantity of blood pumped with each beat of the heart, around 70 mL

Heart rate
A
Number of times the heart beats per minute, the average being 72 beats per minute

Cardiac output
A
This is stroke volume X heart rate.
- a person who exercises has a high cardiac output because the heart rate is higher
