A nation that rules under religious legislation based on government interpretations of a religion.

A government where the government controls the economy; there’s no private ownership of land. Goal is to create a classless society.

A government that holds elections to choose representatives.
Federal Republic
Types of Government
A government where power is divided between a national government and the subdivisions of the nation.
Democracy
A government that makes decisions based on majority votes from citizens.
General Elections
Voting for federal, state, and local officials. Called municipal elections on odd-numbered years.
Primary Elections
Parties select candidates for general election, then voters choose who will be nominated for the ballot.
Recall Election
A procedure where voters can remove an elected official before their term has ended.
Initiatives
A state level process allowing citizens to place legislation on the ballot for voting.
