Q

Benefits of Schemas?

A
  • Enables us to process vast amounts of information rapidly
  • Can help us predict what will happen in our world based o our experiences, therefore, process lots of info quickly.
  • Prevents us from becoming overwhelmed by environment stimuli.

Q

Cons of Schema?

A
  • Distort our interpretation of sensory information, leading to perceptual errors
  • Can cause bias recall / see what we expect which has implications for memory and EWT.
  • Faulty schema may have negative impact on mental health, e.g. depression.
