What is a childminder?
Self employed professional who look after children in their own home
3 Roles of a childminder
- Planning stimulating activities
- Doing the school run
- Preparing snacks/ meals
What is a children’s nursery?
A facility that provides early years education and childcare for children aged 0-5
What is a pre-school ?
A place where children usually go before going up to primary school from aged 3-5
What will children learn at pre-school ?
- manners
- counting
- interacting and sharing with others
- How to write their name
What is a day nursery ?
Usually private and run by non-profit making charities, paid for by parents or carers, some government funded fee places for 3 and 4 year olds
What is a statutory/ maintained nursery class ?
Usually attached to a primary school and free to attend
What is a nursery school ?
Not part of a primary school, could be independently run eg: Montessori nursery schools
