Elec Flashcards
(22 cards)
What is the minimum battery voltage?
25.6V
What should be done if battery voltage is 25.5V or below on preflight?
Charge batteries using external power by setting BAT pushbuttons to AUTO
How long should the batteries be charged before rechecking voltage?
20 minutes
How do you conduct the battery check?
Select ELEC ECAM page, turn BAT 1 and 2 OFF then ON, check charging current <60 amps and decreasing within 10 seconds
If the battery check fails, what should you do?
Wait for charging to complete and repeat the test
Describe the electrical power system.
3-phase 115/200V AC 400Hz system + 28V DC; generators create AC, some converted to DC; all generators can power the full network
If all AC power is lost, what happens?
Battery DC is converted to AC
What GEN pushbutton indication is expected before engine start?
FAULT
What is an IDG?
Integrated Drive Generator — converts variable engine RPM to constant output frequency
How is an IDG disconnected?
Lift red guard, push IDG pb (not longer than 3 sec) — only after confirming with other pilot
Can a flight crew reconnect an IDG?
No — maintenance only
Describe the BUS TIE in AUTO.
Connects AC BUS 1 and 2 if needed; enables APU GEN or EXT PWR to power the system; prevents simultaneous sources
If GEN 1 fails, how is AC BUS 1 powered?
Through BUS TIE using GEN 2 (or APU GEN)
How is the AC ESS BUS normally powered?
From AC BUS 1
If AC BUS 1 fails, how is AC ESS BUS powered?
Automatically from AC BUS 2
What indicates that AC ESS is being powered by AC BUS 2?
AC ESS FEED ALTN light (only when manually selected)
What does a GALLEY fault light indicate?
At least one generator is above 100% load
What does the GALLEY pushbutton do in AUTO?
Sheds main galley power if only 1 GEN is online
How is the BATTERY BUS normally powered?
Through DC BUS 1 via the DC tie contactor
What buses are powered by the EMER GEN?
AC ESS, AC ESS SHED, DC ESS via ESS TR, DC ESS SHED
What does a BAT FAULT light indicate?
Battery charging current is out of limits; BAT contactor opens
When are the batteries connected to the BATTERY BUS?
APU start, battery charging, or if both AC BUS 1 & 2 are lost and airspeed <100 knots
