Created to have a united continent to prevent another world war

However, has failed many economies as led to privatisation of industry

Thus, little money is reinvested back into countries economy on improvements

Caused debt for may countries e.g. Greece as had to mortgage many airports + highways

Free movement of people without a passport within the EU, however UK always opted out even before leaving in 2016

Positive as helps easily fill job shortages around EU

However, people have worries about how easy it is for criminals/ terrorists to travel

After Paris 2015 terror attacks some countries reintroduced border control
