What is the difference between BADLs and IADLs?
BADLs: Self-care activities such as: dressing, washing, eating, ambulating
IADLs: More advanced activities that allow us to live independently such as: shopping, using transportation, cooking, cleaning
Standardized v. Nonstandardized assessments?
Standardized: - Formal functional assessment tool
Administered the same way, every time
-Carefully selected items
-Items clearly defined
-Provides valid, reliable information
-May not represent all activities meaningful to client
Nonstandardized: - more informal
- include activitiesimportant to evaluator for client
- may be incomplete, unreplicable
What is the difference between reliability and validity?
Reliability: the degree to which an assessment tool produces stable and consistent results
Validity: how well a test measures what it is supposed to measure
What is Responsiveness?
What is Precision?
Responsiveness - measures intended changes
Precision - ability to detect change (aka specificity)
