When doing a GMA on a child, what are we looking for?
- -Writhing movements normal from pre-term to 6-9 weeks post-term age
- Fidgety movements normal from 6-9 to 15-20 weeks post term age
- Studies have demonstrated 95% specificity and sensitivity for identification of cerebral palsy when abnormalities found (<5 mos.)
What is the difference between preterm, term and postterm babies?
Preterm: born before 37 weeks gestational age
Term: between 38-40 weeks
Postterm - 40+ weeks
