What are the basic ideas of feminism on global development?
Believe in and desire equality between men and women and they believe society is patriarchal and women are controlled by men.
Feminsim on gender/women in developing world?
Women are often held back by traditional norms and values.
So have less opportunities
So have less freedom and choice such as marriage.

Eco-feminism:
- Idea that both women and nature should be respected
- men and social norms have dominance over women and nature

In many developing countries education of women is now a norm rather than an exception. Point to women’s rights improving.

- Often arise with capitalism attached
- Capitalism often causes inequalities between men and women because the women tend to have to stay home and look after kids whilst man leaves home to go to work
- Causes the female to become dependent on man financially, giving man control over her.

Feminism on population growth?
Significant progress won’t be made on population control until developing countries become less patriarchal and the position of women in society improves so they are unable to take control over their own bodies.

Globalisation has led to increased opportunities of the exploitation of women.
However, women can see through media how women are treated in other countries.

Post modern globalisation has led to common global problems for women - sex tourism and prostitution, environmental degradation and the debt crisis.
Globalisation has led to the emergence of the global sex-industry and trafficking across borders.
Feminism on TNCs?
Women are often exploited in the workplace of western TNCs in developing nations, having to work extremely long hours in bad conditions while receiving little pay.

TNCs exploit women in the workplace rather than giving them training, equal pay and job security which they offer to male co-workers.
TNCs like Coca-Cola do this in developing nations like India.
Feminism on war and conflict?
- Women are subject to higher rates of rape during war and conflict
- Most wars are fuelled by male aggression
- They belive governments, arms companies and armies are predominantly male institutions
Effect of war and conflict on women?
Education and literary rates fall as a result of dangers of war and effects on schools.
- In developing counties, such as Afghanisatan, girls are usually affected the most by this
- Hinders development and prevents girls from having an education
