Community Warnings and Advice:
Warnings can be issued at a number of different levels relating to the type and severity of the emergency.
Advice – Issued to notify the community that an incident has occurred that may escalate to impact on life or property.
Warning (Watch and Act) – Issued when an incident is likely to or is directly impacting the community. They need to take action now.
Emergency Warning – Issued when the community is in imminent danger from an incident and need to take action now.
Advice All Clear – Issued when the threat of an incident has subsided. An Advice All Clear is required as a follow up where a Warning / Watch and Act or Emergency Warning has been issued.
Prepare to Evacuate – Issued when the community is recommended to quickly prepare to leave the area.
Evacuate Now – Issued when the community is recommended to immediately leave, or processes are in place to evacuate communities.
What is an After Action Review?

After Action Review (AAR) Conducted immediately after an incident/exercise.
May be undertaken on scene or on return to home station.
Addresses any urgent health and safety issues or other concerns that will not wait until the operational debrief.
What are the components of an AAR?
What was planned?
What really happened?
Why did it happen?
What can we do better next time?
A local debrief using AAR does not replace other kinds of formal debrief that might be held sometime after the incident but is a valuable tool to identify key issues.

List the 4 Roles of a Staging Officer:
Establish Staging and Communicate with the OO
Establish all appliances and personnel on scene
Deploy resources requested by OO.
When directed, maintain a reserve of 2 primary appliances with personnel
What are the 7 duties of the Safety Officer as outlined in the IMT advice Card?
Safety Officer is responsible through chain of command to the IC.
Preferably hold the rank of Station Officer or above
Check general structural safety (walls, roofing, etc.)
Ensure use of appropriate procedures (PPC, PPE, Hazmat, BA, Asbestos, High Rise)
Communicate Risks / Problems Immediately to the OO / IC
Report near misses, accidents, injuries and ensure they are followed up.
IC may allocate more than one Safety Officer depending on incident complexity.
The Public Information Officer must ensure the following:

Prepare and issue community warnings and advice at request of IC
Obtain authorisation from IC before issuing community warnings and advice
Liaise with OO on risks and PO to ensure information is timely, relevant and tailored.

Identify current objectives, strategies and resources required.
Develop IAP
Develop alternative objective and strategies.
Assess current and future risks (e.g., Weather, Hazmat, Fire Water Run Off)
Monitor resources requested, en route, allocated to, and released from the incident.
Provide information to Public Information Officer and IMT (Via Sit Reps)
Develop Communications Plan
Prepare report for IC at incident conclusion.
What is the role of the Rehabilitation Officer?

Establish rehabilitation sector remote of the fireground.
Provide shelter, seating, toilet.
Ensure personnel remove PPC / Dress Down
Facilitate Hydration, nutrition, and personal hygiene.
Manage and Document Movement of personnel through rehab - Minimum 20 Minutes
Facilitate medical evaluation or intervention as required (AV/BMS)
Provide Regular Reports to the OO
List the 5 Roles of the Logistics Officer:
Obtain Resources (Human and Physical), facilities, service, and materials to support the IMT.
Monitor current and expected resources.
Assist the PO to produce communications plan.
Establish staging area and rehabilitation requirements.
Develop logistics section of the IAP.
Describe AIRMEN:
Aircraft Incidents - Generic Actions
Approach from either the nose or tail directing lines down the fuselage, avoiding the wheel area. Dry powder must be used for wheels.
Insulate / Isolate passengers / crews from fire using foam or water sprays.
Clear rescue access path to the door through application of foam or water sprays
Maintain path to enable escape routes for passengers or access path for firefighters.
Evacuate passengers from the aircraft immediately. Attend to the fire / spill.
Next appliance on scene acts as a backup to support crew or provides extra water / foam.
What are the 3 categories for planes?
Level 1 - Up to 18 Seats
Level 2 - Up to 215 Seats
Level 3 - Up to 450 Seats

Maintain a clear distance of 5 meters radius from front of plane.

Do not interfere with inactive propellers.
Do not walk under wings.
What are the 4 considerations with Jet Aircraft?
Ensure ear protection is worn.
Isolate fuel supply and shut down engine.
Avoid blast area (rear of engine) at all times.
Maintain 8 meters clearance from Jet intake.
What does LACES stand for?
Lookouts - Fixed, Aerial or Mobile Lookout shall be deployed to maintain clear appreciation of risks.
Awareness - FF shall be made aware of the impact of changes in fire behaviour.
Communications - All Fire crews shall follow the comms plan.
Escape Routes - At least 2 escape routes should be agreed and made known to, by all relevant personnel.
Safety Zones - Safety Zones shall be identified and made known to all relevant firefighters.
What do you do if caught in a Wildfire?

Seek refuge and protect yourself from radiant heat, in nearest structure or vehicle.
Burnt ground is the safest place to be.
Don’t try to outrun the fire uphill.
Transmit a priority distress message advising location and situation.
Shield in a vehicle with the engine running, lights on and cover yourself with a blanket.
Close all doors windows and vents.
Activate cabin sprays and deploy cabin curtains if available.
