- Participation
- Geographic (How/ Where is power distributed)

What are the 6 types of participation in government
- Democracy
- Direct Democracy
- Representative Democracy
- Constituent
What is a Democracy?
Government system where the people have the freedom to participate
What is a Direct Democracy?
Government system where the citizens themselves make the public policies
What is a Representative Democracy?
Government system where citizens elect a smaller group of people to make policies for them- 535 people in this group in the U.S
What is a Constituent?
The people that the elected official represents (aka: the voters)
What is a Dictatorship?
Government system where the citizens are not allowed to participate
What is an Autocracy?
Government system where the ruler rules by themself (ex: Hitler, Mussolini, etc.)
What is an Oligarchy?
Government system where the government is ruled by a small group of people
What are the 3 types of geographic governments in government
- Unitary
- Confederate
- Federal
Describe a unitary government
One central government that controls all of the country
What is an example of a parliamentary government
Britain
Describe a confederate government
All independent states with no central government (ALL of them fail, no current day examples)
Describe a Federal government
Have both Unitary and confederate government
What is an example of a Federal government
U.S
What are the 2 types of relationships when classifying governments
- Presidential Relationship
- Parliamentary Relationship
What is a Presidential relationship
The citizens vote for both legislative and chief executive
What is a Parliamentary Relationship
The citizens vote for legislative (parliament) and the chief executive is elected by the executive branch
