What is cholesterol?
A fatty substance made by the liver and found in foods.
What is LDL cholesterol?
“Bad” cholesterol that can clog arteries.
What is HDL cholesterol?
“Good” cholesterol that protects the heart.
What is atherosclerosis?
When arteries become narrow due to fatty build-up.
Which fats raise cholesterol?
Saturated fats and trans fats.
Which fats help lower cholesterol?
Polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats.
Name foods that are good for heart health.
Fatty fish, fruits, vegetables, olive oil, canola oil.
What is anaemia?
A condition where the blood can’t carry enough oxygen.
What causes iron-deficiency anaemia?
Not enough iron, poor absorption, blood loss, or pregnancy.
What are symptoms of anaemia?
Tiredness, weakness, pale skin.
How can anaemia be prevented?
Eat iron-rich foods like liver and red meat, and vitamin C-rich foods.
Why should you avoid tea/coffee with meals?
They block iron absorption.
What is normal blood pressure?
120/80 mmHg.
What blood pressure is too high?
140/90 mmHg or higher.
Why is it called the “silent killer”?
Because it has no symptoms but causes serious problems like heart attacks.
What causes high blood pressure?
Poor diet (too much salt and fat), lack of exercise, stress, alcohol, smoking.
How can you prevent high blood pressure?
Exercise, eat healthily, reduce salt, manage stress, avoid smoking.
