Provide more energy than carbohydrates but good for low intensity energy ( fat burning zone )

Consumed for growth and repair of muscle tissues
Athlete can recover faster and adaptation process can occur.
What do carbohydrates do?
The preferred energy source for athletes for activities at all intensities.
Break down into sugars for energy
Simple carbs- quick release energy- energy drinks
Complex carbs- slow release - pasta
