Q

Government targets and promises for defence? Also how much of a gap/black hole is there in funding?

A

Overall target is to go from 2.4% of GDP to 5% by 2035, and 2.5% or even 2.6% by 2027.

3.5% go to core spending, and 1.5% to security

However, MOD has warned there is a £28 billion funding gap

Therefore, this is more than about productive spending and innovative accounting. War bonds?

War bonds:
War bonds are debt securities sold by a government to its citizens to finance military operations and war efforts, acting as a loan that the government promises to repay with interest later, typically used to raise funds quickly and control wartime inflation by removing money from circulation
