Purpose of Gaseous Radwaste System?
What are the sources of gases GRW can collect?(4)
collect and transport radioactive gasses for:
- decay, until ready for discharge
- cover gas to the LHUTS
Sources:
- LHUTS
- VCT
- RCDT

What are the O2 (cel-75 and 76) analyzer’s mearsureing when the waste gas compressors are running?

running - [O2] comming from LHUTS going to GDT
Not running - [O2] backflowing from GDT to LHUTs

What are the different “Modes/ Line ups” a GDT can be in?
What will happen to the GRW system when the GDT that is being “filled” reaches 100 psig?
Fill - filling from LHUT (or other load)
Purge - used to backflow covergas to LHUT
Vent - exhaust GDT out plant vent
STBY - b/u fill GDT if “FILL” GDT gets too full
the fill valve for the online GDT will close and the fill valve for the STBY tank will open
What does it mean for a GDT to be “purged”?
What are the prerequisites for a GDT to be purged?
it means that tank is used to provide a cover gas for an LHUT
Prerequisites:
- only one tank selected for purge at a time
- only “STBY” tank or non “fill” tank can be purged
- Purge tank must > 15 psig
What is the basis for letting the gases in the GDT decay away instead of just discharging them?
ensures whole body exposure to the public at nearest side boundary does not exceed 0.5 REM
