hand Flashcards

1
Q

ulna

A
  • stabilizing bone of the forearm, medial and longer of two
  • proximally has the olecranon posteriorly, and coronoid process anteriorly, which form the walls of the trochlear notch
  • trochlear notch of the ulna articulates with trochlea of humorous
  • radial notch on lateral side of the coronoid process (articulates w radius)
  • does not articulate directly w carpal bones, separated by fibrocartilaginous articular disc
  • ulnar styloid process at distal end of ulna

Q

radius

A
  • lateral and shorter of the two
  • projection at proximal end (medial surface) is the radial tuberosity
  • smooth superior aspect of the head of the radius is concave for articulation with capitulum of humorous
  • ulnar notch at medial aspect of distal end to articulate with ulna
  • radial styloid process at distal end (larger than ulnas)
  • dorsal tubercle of radius lies between two shallow grooves for passage of the tendons of the forearms muscle

Q

carpal bones of hand

A
  • 8 in total
  • arranged in proximal and distal rows of four
  • distal : TTCH trapezium, trapezoid, capitate, hamate

Told Tony Cut Hair

Q

short vinculum

A
  • 2 in each finger
  • one connecting the tendon of the flexor digitorum superficially (FDS) to the front of the first interphalangeal joint and head of the first phalanx
  • the other connects the tendon of flexor digitorum profundus (FDP) to the front of the second interphalangeal joint and head of the second phalanx

Q

long vinculum

A
  • long and slender
  • one connect the flexor digitorum superficialis to the base of the first phalanx
  • the other connects the under surfaces of the tendons of the flexor digitorum profundus to those of the subjacent flexor digitorum superficially after the tendons of the former have passed through the latter
