Causes
A
Viral infection - Coxsackie virus
Transmission - Droplet and respiratory + direct contact

Epidiemology
A
Can affect adults and children - most common in children under 10 years old

Signs and symptoms
A
Blisters/spots on hands,inside mouth,fever, sore throat,pain,irritation, loss of appetite and generally unwell

Red flags
A
Dehydration, no/small volume of urine, cold hands and feet, febrile convulsions or confusion
Symptoms worsen with no improvement after 7-10 days

Treatment
A
Self limiting - NO otc treatment
- Keep hydrated: fluid/rehydration sachets
Paracetamol/ibuprofen
No school/nursery/work
