Causes

Contagious Bacteria RTI - Bordetella pertussis
Transmission - droplet transmission from coughs and sneezes

Signs and symptoms
A
Dry tickly cough with associated symptoms - runny nose,feeling unwell,whooping cough gasp sound, thick mucus - fatigue for 1 month
Cough subsides up to 2 months

Infants and young children
Coloured mucus
Breathing difficulty

Treatment
A
Antibiotics - babies less that 1 may be treated in hospital to prevent complications
OTC- Paracetamol,ibuprofen or cough syrup. Rest,water. Do not go to school,work and return once taken 5th dose of antibiotic
