What is imagery?
Creating or recreating an event or skills on the mind based on personal experience or observation of others
What are the key components to imagery?
Vividness - including all of the senses
Controllability - the ability to command one’s images
What are the motivational and cognitive functions in imagery?
Motivational-specific - goal-oriented response
Motivational-general - arousal (raising or lowering)
Cognitive-specific - skills
Cognitive-general - strategy

Imagery to program muscles for action and facilitates skill learning - can innervate the muscles like physical practice
