What is modern slavery?
the explotation of individuals for personal or commercial gain. It is a serious crime that violates the human rights of victims. It covers human trafficking, slavery, servitude and forced or complusory labour. It victims are defined by the Slavery and Human Trafficking regulations 2022.
What must employers and stakeholder in the land-based sector be aware of?
the risk of coercion and exploitation among workers, reffered to as modern slavery.

how can employers help to protect their workers from modern slavery?
- make sure they are aware of their legal rights associated with the role and contractual terms and conditions
- Continually monitor their workforce to ensure they are not being exploited

What does the modern slavery act 2015 ensure?
That all police forces and LAs, as well as anyother authorities have a duty to notify the home office of anyone they believe is a suspected victim of human trafficking or modern slavery.
