  • Native joint is more painful (micromotion); cartilage damage from inflamm, biofilm prosthesis
  • WBC high for synovial fluid (lower threshold for prosthetic 6000)
  • Native is hematogenous, prosthetic is usu direct innoculation
  • staph for both
