Crush injury- main concern, treat

A
  • renal failure from hyperkalemia and myoglobinuria
  • metabolic acidosis from hypotension and hypocalcemia (can cause cardiiac failure)
  • bicarb to treat, dialysis, fluids

Flexor tenosynovitis- cause, signs, treatment

A
  • usu puncture wound w staph
  • kaneval’s cardial signs- symmetric swelling (of entire finger), tenderness, semi-flexed digit, pain with passive extension
  • IV antibiotis, surgery if no improvement within 24 hours
