What does Gillborn and Mirza say about Black children and education?
They were the highest achievers on entry to primary schools (20% points above avg). Yet by the time it came to the end of GCSEs they were the lowest achieving group (21 points below avg).

Did analysis of over 530,000 7-11 year olds showing how quickly Black pupils fall behind after starting school
What did Strand find?
Black Caribbean boys not entitiled to FSM especially more able made less progress than their white peers.
What do these sociologists challenge?
The assumption made by CD theorists that Black children enter school unprepared.
What does it instead suggest?
That factors internal may be playing a more major part.
