conditions passed on by alleles.

What actually is polydactyly?
A
It’s where a baby is born with extra fingers or toes.
Doesn’t cause any other problems.

Is polydactyly a dominant or recessive disorder?
A
dominant (has d in its name)
Even if 1 of the 2 polydactyly alleles is dominant, you’d still inherit it.

How does cystic fibrosis work?
A
- disorder of cell membranes
- causes lots of thick sticky mucus to be released in the lungs and airways, and the pancreas.

PROS of embryonic screening
A
- reduce overall amount of people suffering from a disease
- save money since treating ppl with certain disorders is very expensive

CONS of embryonic screening
A
- implies that people who have conditions are less desirable - could increase prejudice
- in the future, people could start screening for other traits, like physique and gender, and can become weird
