Impacts

A

1) Sendai airport was buried under rubble and was closed for over a month after the tsunami. This meant that trade was severely disrupted. Therefore, businesses lost a lot of money.
2) Buildings, roads, railways and homes were destroyed; 127,000 in total. This meant that people became homeless and were forced into poverty. Therefore, many people’s lives were majorly disrupted.

A

International help form the US military was sent to Japan, and search and rescue teams were sent from New Zealand, China and more countries. This meant that they could resolve the issue quicker. Therefore, the impact on people’s lives was minimised.
Japan launched a major rebuilding program, creating better earthquake-proof infrastructure. This meant that future earthquakes would cause less damage and fewer deaths. Therefore, they were better prepared for further natural disasters
