A

In Japan, buildings are built to be earthquake-proof and people practise earthquake drills regularly. In Turkey, many buildings were not strong enough and collapsed easily.
When the earthquakes happened, Japan’s emergency services responded very quickly with rescue teams and shelters. In Turkey, the response was slower because roads were damaged and help took longer to arrive.
Japan also had an early warning system that gave people some time to prepare, but Turkey did not have this. After the earthquakes, Japan started rebuilding fast, but Turkey has struggled more because of the amount of damage, and huge amount of debt owed to neighbouring countries
