What is a Party Wall?
- A wall is a party wall if it is the boundary of land belonging to two or more different owners
- A wall that is wholly on one owners land but is used by two or more owners to separate their buildings
What is required by a property owner before starting works that fall under the Party Wall Act?
- To serve a Party Wall Notice
- To comply with the Award

- The property owners and adjacent owners name and address
- The type of party wall notice and description of the works being carried out
- Drawings
- Required to be served 2 months before starting the works, 1 month for excavations
What is a Party Wall award, and when is it needed?
