Lesson 6- Pressure Flashcards

(3 cards)

Q

List the two ways that Pressure can change, and provide an example of each.

A
  1. The presaure in the air changes with altitude -the greater the altitude, the greater the pressure.
Example: When traveling on a plane our ears pop due to the change in pressure around us
  2. The pressure in fluids change with depth. - The greater the depth of the water the greater the pressure Example. The weight of water in the upper part of a simming pool presses down on the water in the lower part of the pool causing the pressure to be much stronger

Q

Explain what a hydraulics system and pneumatics system is. Provide an example of each.

A

A Hudrawlic System is a system that uses a liquid under pressure to transmit force and do work.
Example: A hoist used to lift a car

A pneumatics system uses gas( usually air) under pressure to transmit a force to do work
Example: Air pump
