Q

What is called the tissue fluid?

A

The fluid that leaks out of the blood capillaries containing some WBC and plasma that helps in exchange of oxygen, nutrients and waste materials between blood and the somatic cells.

Q

What is called the lymphatic system?

A

The tissue fluid is reabsorbed back to the blood capillaries and the excess tissue fluid within the intercellular spaces connects with the blood circulatory system through a special tubular system called the lymphatic system.

Q

What is the main function of the lymphatic system?

A

Destruction of infectious organisms like bacteria
The WBC in the lymph nodes destroy infectious organisms by phagocytosis

16
Q

What is an essential lipid compound produced by the liver?

17
Q

Is cholestrol water soluble or not? How is it transported within the body?

A

Cholestrol is not water soluble.
It is transported as lipo-protiens by combining with protiens.

18
Q

What are the two main types of lipo protiens?

19
Q

Due to deposition of what lipo protien does the artheroclerosis occur?

20
Q

How does artherosclerosis occur?

A

LDL gets deposited in the coronary artery and other arteris reducing the size of the lumen inside the arteries.

21
Q

What are the effects of atherosclerosis?

A

Due to the blocking of the coronary artery, the blood supply to the heart is affected. Due to this, some parts of the heart will fail to function causing angina ( chest pain ). This is called heart attack.

22
Q

What is called hypertension?

A

Due to the deposition of cholestrol inside the arteries, the size of the lumen reduces. Then the blood supply to different organs gets reduced, and the heart needs to pump blood with more pressure, this higher pressure excerted onto the artery wall is called the hypertension.

23
Q

What are the causes for hypertension (2) ?

A
  • Deposition of cholestrol in the arteries.
  • Reduction of the elasticity of the artery or arteriole wall.
24
What is hypotension and what are the causes?
Hypotension is the low blood pressure, it is caused due to a nutritional deficiency.
25
What causes thrombosis?
When an organ's blood supply is affected due to a blood clot in a blood vessel.
26
What are the steps that can be taken in order to prevent the diseases assosicated with the blood circulatory system?
* Reduction of the consumption of saturated fatty acids. * Regular exercises. * Reduce body weight and proper food habits.
