Lymphocyte Flashcards
(15 cards)
Describe the structure of the lymphocyte
It has a round or indented purple nucleus.
With a sky blue cytoplasm, scanty , forming a thin rim around the nucleus
It’s nucleus lacks a nucleoli
The activated lymphocyte or large granular lymphocyte
They are larger with a diameter of 12-16um.
More abundant cytoplasm with large granules
What percentage of the lymphocyte constitutes the pool that recirculates between the blood and lymphatic system
50%
The thoracic ducts drains
The lower limbs
Left hemithorax
Pelvis
Left side of the head and neck
Left upper limit
Abdomen
The right lymphatic duct drains
Right side of the head and neck
Right hemithorax
Right upper limb
Describe the flow of lymphatic recirculation
Lymphocyte from circulation——-> lymph nodes—–> efferent lymphatic vessel———–> lymphatic ducts( elaborate)———->veins ( subclavian veins and IJV)
List all the lymph nodes you can think of …………
The hematopoietic stem cells migrate to the bone marrow at what week of gestation
8-16 th week
Better still 20th week
B lymphocyte develop in birds from ……
A gut associated tissue.
Bursa of fabricus
The earliest recognizable precursor of B cells are
Tdt +
CD 10+ CELL
Called the Pro-B cell
The providers B cells are
TdT +
CD10+
At what position of tge chromosome does rearrangement of genes of heavy and light chain of Igs take place respectively
Chromosome 8 and 14
Why does production of T lymphocyte decrease with age
Shrinkage of thymus
What is positive selection of lymphocyte
This is the process by prothymocyte in the cortex are exposed to self molecules that belong to the MHC
Due to positive and negative selection only ……… %of T lymphocyte survive
5 to 10%
