How does the Manchester Metrolink manage traffic?
It connects a number of smaller towns and suburbs to Manchester city centre, the redeveloped area of Salford Quays and Old Trafford
Trains run every 6 minutes with extra units coupled together during rush hours
In 2007, the metrolink carried 20 million passengers
Three new routes are planned costung £575 million. when these routes are completed they are expected to take 5 million car journeys off the roads each year to increase the use of Metrolink system to 90,000 people per day
How does the Park and Ride manage traffic?
Stratford-Upon-Avon runs a park and ride scheme within the city
The idea is to park your car in the large out of town car park and buy a bus ticket
The bus then takes you into the city centre
Buses run every 10-15 minutes to the town centre
How does the Curitiba Bus Rapid Transport manage traffic?
It has direct line buses which operate from key pick up points and run directly into the city centre
It has speedy buses which operate in the five main routes into the city and have limited stops
It has inter-district buses which join up districts without crossing the city centre
It has feeder mini buses which pick people up from residential areas and take them to terminal points for the main routes
