Asch’s Experiment on Peer Pressure
a person’s skills, knowledge, and abilities, or a person’s potential to achieve well-being
Human Capacities
an individual’s acceptance of a set of norms and values (established by others) through socialisation
Internalization
the concept that a person’s self-image is largely based on how they believe others perceive them, essentially acting like a mirror reflecting their perceived appearance and judgments back to them
Looking Glass Self
large-scale organizations which use one or more of these technologies (print, radio, or television) to communicate with large numbers of people
Mass Media
how much a person’s traits are due to genetics (nature) versus their environment (nurture)

the influence of a group or individual on another person to alter their behaviour so they become accepted by a peer group
Peer Pressure
the process of learning new values, norms, and behaviors to adapt to a new role or social environment
Resocialization
the absence of social interactions, contacts, and relationships with family and friends, with neighbors on an individual level, and with “society at large” on a broader level.
Social Isolation
a closed social system in which life is organized by strict norms, rules, and schedules, and what happens within it is determined by a single authority whose will is carried out by staff who enforce the rules. Ex: prison
