Humanistic Theories
Theories that view personality with a focus on the potential for healthy personal growth.
Hierarchy of Needs
Maslow’s levels of human needs, beginning at the base with physiological needs. Often visualized as a pyramid, with needs nearer the base taking priority until they are satisfied.
Self-Actualization
According to Maslow; one of the ultimate psychological needs that arise after basic physical and psychological needs are met and self-esteem is achieved; the motication to fulfill one’s potential.
Self-transcedence
According to Maslow, the stricing for identity, meaning, and purpose beyond the self
Unconditional Postive Regard
A caring, accepting, nonjudgemental attitude, which Carl Rogers believed would help people develop self-awareness and self-acceptance. (Also known as unconditional regard)
Self-Concept
All our thoguhts and feeligns about ourselves, in answer to the questions, “Who am I?”
