1

Superficial sensation

temperature, light touch, pain

2

Deep sensation

proprioception, kinesthesia, vibration

3

Cortical sensation

bilateral simultaneous stimulation, stereognosis, two-point discrimination, barognosis, localization of touch

4

Barognosis

perceive the weight of different objects in the hand

5

Deep pain

squeeze the forearm or calf muscle

6

Graphesthesia

identify a number of letter drawn on the skin without visual input

7

Two-point discrimination

using a two-point caliper on the skin, identify one or two points without visual input

15

Vibration

perceive vibration or pain through a tuning fork

16

Allodynia

the sensation of pain in response to a stimulus that would not typically produce pain

17

Analgesia

the absence of pain while remaining conscious

18

Anesthesia

the absence of touch sesnation

19

Causalgia

constant, relentless, burning hyperesthesia and hyperalgesia that develops after a peripheral nerve injury

20

Dysesthesia

distortion of any of the sense, especially the sense of touch

21

Hyperesthesia

heightened sensation

22

Hyperpathia

an extreme exaggerated response to pain

23

Hyposthesia

a diminished sensation of touch

24

Neuralgia

severe and multiple shock-like pains that radiate from a specific nerve distribution

25

Pallanesthesia

loss of vibration sensation

26

Paresthesia

abnormal sensations such as tingling, pins and needles or burning sesnsations
