1
Q

Describe the origin of the internal iliac vein

A

The internal iliac vein begins as the confluence of gluteal et al….?

2
Q

Describe the length and course of the internal iliac vein

A

The internal iliac vein is approximately three centimetres long, running above and behind the artery.

3
Q

Describe other significant venous contributors to the internal iliac vein

A

In addition to parallels to significant arteries, the internal iliac vein also receives uterine, vesicoprostatic and rectal venous plexuses.

4
Q

From what plexus does the obturator nerve arise?

A

The lumbar plexus

5
Q

Describe the course of the obturator nerve

A

Obturator pierces the medial wall of psoas, passing along the side wall of the pelvis to the obturator foramen. In the obturator foramen it divides into anterior and posterior divisions

6
Q

What significant anatomical landmark does the obturator nerve pass?

A

It appears in the external iliac/internal iliac artery angle very close to the ovary, and runs above the artery and vein.

7
Q

What supplies pectineus?

A

The accessory obturator nerve

8
Q

What is the course of the accessory obturator nerve?

A

The accessory obturator nerve leaves the medial aspect of psoas, but is otherwise similar to the femoral nerve, in that ??over the pubic ramus and derived from the posterior divisions ???
